Origami of Popular Characters, Creatures, and Foods (31–40)
bear

Bears are a classic motif among animals and are often turned into characters.
Let’s focus on that bear-like cuteness and make a mascot out of origami.
The most important thing is to shape the whole piece into a rounded form while adding the ears to give it a soft look.
The face and ears are clearly separated, which also creates an overall sense of three-dimensionality.
Once the overall shape is complete, you attach the facial features separately, and this is where you can bring out originality depending on how you design it.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar
https://www.tiktok.com/@yuyu_activity/video/7261097914519391506The classic picture book The Very Hungry Caterpillar is filled with a fun story, clever surprises, and plenty of educational elements we want children to learn.
It’s a beloved masterpiece that has been cherished around the world for many years.
How about making that Hungry Caterpillar with origami and having some fun? It’s designed to stretch out with a satisfying boing when you pull it, so kids are sure to love it! You’ll need to make lots of small parts and assemble them, so it does take patience—but if the children help with making the parts, you’ll have it done in no time.
Use large origami paper and you can even make a giant caterpillar.
Be sure to get everyone together to make a cute caterpillar and play with it!
Chiikawa

If you make Chiikawa, a character hugely popular with kids, out of origami, they’re sure to love it! Prepare a sheet of white origami paper and fold it into Chiikawa’s shape.
You can make both the head and body with a single sheet.
Be careful when folding the small ears, hands, and feet, as the work gets a bit delicate.
Once you’ve folded it into Chiikawa’s shape, draw the eyes, mouth, eyebrows, and more with a pen to finish! After you’ve made Chiikawa, try making other characters like Hachiware and Usagi too.
Cute and easy! Dog boxNEW!

Here’s an origami idea for making a small dog-shaped box.
After folding the paper in half both ways into a square and a triangle to make creases, do a cushion fold (zabuton).
Using the creases, fold it into a square with the corners on the outside, then open the center of the square and squash it into a rectangle.
Repeat the same steps on the other side.
Turn and adjust the paper so the folded sections are on the inside, then fold the top corner of the new face down into a triangle.
Using the crease, tuck this section inward—this will be the dog’s ear.
Next, fold the left and right edges to meet the center line, and do the same on the back side, then fold the ears downward.
Open it out from the center and shape it, and your box is complete!
Cute 3D box penguinNEW!

Here’s an idea for making a 3D penguin from a single sheet of origami paper.
Fold the corners toward the center of a square, and treat those corners as the beak and hands as you continue.
First, crease the paper to create a 3×3 grid, then do a “zabuton fold.” Next, make a stepped fold on the top corner to form the beak, and use the left and right corners to form the hands.
Then mountain-fold along the vertical creases to create the head and body, and sharpen the two bottom corners to make the feet.
You’ll mainly be folding along the crease lines, so take care to make the creasing steps neatly.
Use black origami paper and cleverly make use of the white color on the back side as you work.
