GIVE ME FIVE !AKB48

This is AKB48’s 25th single, tagged with the catchphrase: “Once we’ve cried our fill, let’s high-five!” The center is AKB’s immovable ace, Atsuko Maeda.
It’s the group’s fifth so-called “sakura song,” and a rare single for them in that it was released with a full band arrangement.
The title “GIVE ME FIVE” refers to a high-five, and it feels like this one phrase contains the beautiful youthfulness of “We’re graduating and going our separate ways, but let’s end it with a smiling high-five.” It’s a cherry blossom song full of memories that makes you stop what you’re doing and watch whenever it comes on in a commercial.

AKB48’s “Sakura no Shiori” is also very popular as a graduation song.
Released in 2010 as AKB’s 15th single, it featured Minami Takahashi and Atsuko Maeda in the center positions.
The music video is memorable for the members in furisode kimono, and unlike a catchy idol pop tune, it’s a choral piece—something a bit different.
It’s a perfect choice for a graduation chorus.
For those about to graduate, it’s a tearjerker that brings out strong feelings toward friends and teachers.
cherry blossom rainJUJU

There are many songs about cherry blossoms, but this one is a track that leaves you with a bittersweet feeling.
“Sakura Ame” (Cherry Blossom Rain) is JUJU’s 12th single, released in 2010.
During cherry blossom season, both songs and commercials tend to be cheerful and upbeat.
But the rain of that season brings a sad feeling, as it makes the blossoms fall.
Perfect for that mood, this song is a sorrowful heartbreak ballad that brings back memories of an old love.
For anyone who just can’t forget someone, it’s a sentimental spring song that’s hard to listen to without tears.
SAKURAMONKEY MAJIK

MONKEY MAJIK’s “SAKURA” sets a refreshing tone for the start of a new season.
Released in 2010, the song was featured in Menard Cosmetics’ commercial “~Your most beautiful self~ (SAKURA ver.),” as well as in ads for MUSICO and Winning Eleven.
It portrays the arrival of spring and the day of parting—capturing the feeling of not wanting to say goodbye yet, while still taking a step forward with memories held close.
It gently supports the loneliness and anxiety of those transitioning from their familiar daily lives to something new, as well as the determination to do their best.
Spring of LifePerfume

Perfume’s “Spring of Life” makes you want to start a new romance in spring, the season of many new encounters.
The song was used in the commercial for Kirin’s Chu-Hi “Hyoketsu,” in which the members of Perfume also appeared.
Its bright, poppy melody, showcasing Perfume’s cute side, is a perfect fit for spring when spirits naturally lift! The lyrics express the feeling of wanting spring not only in the seasons but also in your own life—let’s start a fun and wonderful love! As spring brings more opportunities to meet people, like at parties and gatherings, why not let this song be the spark to begin a new romance?

Bloomin!Tommy February6

“Bloomin!’” was released in 2002 under Tommy February6, the solo project of Tomoko Kawase, vocalist of the brilliant green.
It’s an ‘80s-style pop number that bursts with Kawase’s cuteness.
The song was also used in a commercial for the cosmetics brand Shiseido, perfectly matching its sparkling vibe.
The fantastical music video pairs wonderfully with the song’s mood and is absolutely adorable—be sure to check it out!
CHE.R.RYYUI

This song, YUI’s “CHE.R.RY,” has become a staple spring tune and unrequited-love anthem.
Released in 2007 as YUI’s eighth single, it’s also one of her signature tracks.
It’s an adorable number that captures the heart-pounding excitement of realizing you’re in love and that irresistible surge of joy.
The chorus is so famous that it always turns into a sing-along at karaoke.
It’s the kind of song you want to hear in the warm, sunny days of spring.
