This commercial, featuring Yuriko Yoshitaka and Hio Miyazawa as a couple, is GLOBAL WORK’s “Melty Knit: You Can’t Go Wrong” ad.
It shows a dinner scene on Yoshitaka’s birthday date.
She’s hoping, “He might finally propose,” but Miyazawa still can’t bring himself to say it—making for a charming development.
Playing in the background is Omoinotake’s “Whiteout,” a song written specifically for this commercial.
Its lyrics, mirroring the ad’s storyline, express a man’s feelings as he struggles to find the courage to speak the precious words he’s been holding in his heart.
With its wintry imagery, it’s the perfect love song for this season.

Singer-songwriter Kōmi Hirose, also known by the nickname “Queen of Winter,” has had many of her songs featured in commercials.
Among them, one of her signature tracks, “Gelandé ga Tokeru Hodo Koishitai” (“I Want to Fall in Love So Much the Slopes Melt”), is especially famous for being used in an Alpen commercial.
The lyrics tell a love story set in winter, sung over a radiant, quintessentially ’90s J-pop sound.
Its catchy, unforgettable melody still makes my heart race even today.

It was released in 1983 as Tatsuro Yamashita’s 12th single.
Its popularity grew after it was used in 1988 as the CM song for JR Tokai’s “Hometown Express (X’mas Edition).” Today, it has become a classic Christmas song and continues its long run as a track that is always played during the holiday season.

The JR SKISKI commercials are always attention-grabbing, bringing a fresh breeze to each era.
In the past they featured ZOO’s “Choo Choo TRAIN” and globe’s “DEPARTURES,” and more recently fresh artists like sumika and Macaroni Enpitsu have provided the songs.
The new CM, “Take Back Winter,” features WurtS’s “Melt.” Notably, the lyrics leave only sketched outlines and entrust the rest to the listener’s free interpretation.
The TV commercial starring actress Sara Minami presents a fresh direction, with Minami looking like she’s genuinely having fun.
Just like this CM, we hope everyone around the world can feel happy this winter!

It’s a wonderful track you’ll want to listen to while carefully taking in the lyrics.
