Why Can’t We Be FriendsWar

The Kirin Spring Valley commercial “How to Drink Beer,” featuring Takayuki Yamada, has been crafted for adults, with him talking about the depth of flavor.
Beyond its content, what left a strong impression on viewers was the powerful singing.
The song is “Why Can’t We Be Friends?” performed by the legendary funk band War.

A Naked Heartaimyon

Naked Heart, the massive hit song sung by Aimyon.
It’s featured in Suntory BOSS’s commercial “Alien Jones: The Usual Vending Machine.” In it, Koji Yakusho plays a human who is saddened when his beloved vending machine is removed.
It’s interesting how the ad pairs a rather surreal story with a moving ballad.
As for the song itself, it’s a ballad about unrequited love, so I hope you’ll take your time and listen to it.
Its heartrending lyrics will tighten your chest.

Cafés where you can savor the retro charm of the Showa era are popular even among younger people, aren’t they? Perfectly matching that demand is this new McDonald’s commercial series “Kissa Mac,” specifically the spot titled “Meeting Up at ‘Kissa Mac.’” Sota Nakajima from FANTASTICS from EXILE TRIBE appears in it, playing the role of someone waiting to meet inside the shop while enjoying items from “Kissa Mac.” The visuals deliver a wonderfully nostalgic mood that fits the theme.
Enhancing that Showa-era atmosphere even further is the CM song: a cover of the classic Showa kayō hit “Matsu Wa” by the duo Amin—known in part for featuring Takako Okamura—sung here by Nakajima himself.
For Nakajima, it’s a hit from long before he was born, and fans his age or even younger will likely find it refreshingly new.
California coconutskururi

The Koikeya potato chips commercial titled “This Man, Pure and Simple” features a song by the rock band Quruli.
In the ad’s story, Ryusei Yokohama, who is told at work to “handle things better,” returns to his parents’ home and receives warm words from his father: “Live honestly without cutting corners.” The song’s gentle tone perfectly matches this moving commercial.
Quruli have created songs with a variety of vibes depending on the era, but this track is a simple, tender band sound that fully showcases their appeal.
Strong Wind Slicked-Back (feat. Kaai Yuki)yukopi

This insanely catchy, instantly memorable song—haven’t you heard it somewhere before? It’s a track by the Vocaloid producer Yukopi, and a parody version was used in Nissin Cup Noodles’ commercial “Summer? Gotta Eat Seafood.” The song has also been drawing a lot of attention on social media, and many of you have probably seen dance videos that recreate its BGM.
It’s the kind of tune that makes you want to hum along and start dancing without even thinking.
Beautifulyuzu

This song is the cheer anthem that Yuzu—who have produced numerous hit songs—released in 2023.
Some of you may have heard it in Nippon Life’s commercial supporting the Basketball World Cup held in 2023.
As the title suggests, it declares that “the act of not giving up is beautiful,” and its lyrics about pushing forward together with your teammates are sure to move you.
While the lyrics are warm and uplifting, the track itself incorporates EDM-style synth sounds and builds a high-energy mood—be sure to listen with that contrast in mind.
