When you’re watching TV or browsing the internet, you often come across commercials, and I’m sure many of you have had a song from one of them get stuck in your head.

In this article, we’ll introduce lots of noteworthy CM (commercial) songs—whether it’s a tune you can’t quite name but can’t stop thinking about, or a song you only heard a snippet of in the ad and want to listen to in full.

The 2013 Kampo Seimei (Japan Post Insurance) TV commercial featured Mika Nakashima’s signature song “Sakurairo Mau Koro.” The track was originally released in 2005, and the version used in the commercial was “Sakurairo Mau Koro – natural edition -,” notable for its acoustic guitar accompaniment.

This version was included as a B-side to “Boku ga Shino to Omotta no wa,” released in 2013.

It has a different feel from the original version, which features piano accompaniment.

Also particularly striking in this CM is the footage of Masaharu Fukuyama performing a piano-and-vocal piece.

The song featured in the commercial, Mirai-e, was written specifically for this campaign.

Its title is notable for its double meaning: not only “a picture of the future,” but also the phrase “to the future.” It’s a song whose message—living the present to the fullest for the sake of the future—resonates deeply.
