Apple “iPhone Privacy: Waiting Room”

Knives Out!, Pt. II (The Will)Nathan Johnson

This commercial warns that health-related information is important data that must be properly protected.

The contrast between the anxious expression when personal data is known and the relieved expression when the iPhone Health app can protect that information conveys a sense of reassurance.

The background music is “Knives Out!, Pt.

II (The Will)” by film composer Nathan Johnson.

This piece is also used as background music in the film “Knives Out,” and its tense, anxiety-inducing melody underscores the commercial’s theme of concerns about privacy.

#BestPhonesForever: Halftime Edition

Like football players huddling at halftime to plan their next moves, a certain company’s smartphone team holds a meeting on how to take on their rival, the Google Pixel 8.

The rival packs tons of features, but “we’ve got the looks!” declares the coach-like smartphone.

After rallying the team and sending them back onto the pitch, it turns out the coach smartphone is actually on friendly terms with Google Pixel—making for a curious, whimsical commercial.

The CM features ‘Guerrilla’ by American singer-songwriter Remi Wolf, adding an extra layer of cool to the already polished image of Google Pixel.

SoftBank “Magical Lip Sync”

Original song

In this SoftBank commercial announcing PayPay points, Masahiro Nakai is captivating as he sings a cool track with a powerful beat.

As the title “Magical Lip Sync” suggests, Nakai performs a lip-sync to the audio, and toward the end, lyrics that reveal it’s lip-synced—paired with Nakai’s refreshingly candid expression—are sure to make you smile.
