This commercial starts off with a car suddenly being launched into the air—a slightly surreal setup meant to showcase the durability of the iPhone 14 Pro through a crash test.

After a close-up of the dummy’s face inside the car during the test, the shot of the unscathed iPhone really leaves an impression.

The background music is Gene Chandler’s “You Can’t Hurt Me No More,” a wonderful classic with tear-jerking melodies and lyrics that depict a bittersweet breakup.

Ishin Denshin by ORANGE RANGE is a song that was used in a 2004 au by KDDI commercial featuring the band themselves.

To evoke the idea of mobile phones, the title uses “denshin” (telegraph) instead of “denshin” meaning “heart-to-heart,” and electronic sounds that suggest telephones are used throughout the track.

Although it wasn’t released as a single, it became well-known thanks to the commercial and remains very popular as a ringtone and in karaoke.

It’s a quintessentially ORANGE RANGE song—happy and high-energy—so definitely give it a listen!

The title “Charon” is the name of Pluto’s first satellite.

iida LIGHT POOL

575Perfume

It’s a song included on Perfume’s 11th single, released in 2010.

It’s the first song in which Perfume performs rap, and, as the title suggests, all parts other than the rap lyrics are structured in 5-7-5.

It was used as the iida LIGHT POOL commercial song.

A5304T

Unfinished MelodyYaita Hitomi

The song used for the commercial of au’s mobile phone “A5304T” is Hitomi Yaida’s eighth single, “Mikansei no Melody” (Unfinished Melody).

Written and composed by Yaida, it was released in 2002 and reached No.

9 on the Oricon singles chart.

In addition to au, it was also used in a commercial for Toshiba’s HDD & DVD recorders.

It’s a solid, rhythm-driven rock tune, and the lyrics—tinged with a sense of sadness and loneliness—are heartrending.

2008 LISMO!

Gentle RedFukuhara Miho

“Yasashii Aka” (Gentle Red) is Miho Fukuhara’s third single, released in 2008, and it was featured in a commercial for au’s “LISMO.” The song embodies her resolve as she set off from her hometown in Hokkaido to Tokyo.

Its appeal lies in lyrics that rediscover the charms of her hometown and bid it a renewed farewell, along with Fukuhara’s powerful vocals backed by her assured singing ability.

Before the release, an acoustic version with Fukuhara singing and accompanying herself was reportedly performed live.

NTT DOCOMO yama × DOCOMO Collaboration Movie “Graduation Hope Ceremony”

echoyama

NTT Docomo’s “Graduation of Hopes” was released as a collaborative movie between Docomo and yama, crafted to feel like a music video for one of yama’s songs.

It gathers things users “wish would disappear from society,” presenting them within the film as Graduation Hope Certificates.

The background music is a newly produced track titled “Kodama.” Like the collaborative movie, the song was created based on user input, carrying an encouraging message about facing oneself.

It’s a supportive anthem that will likely serve as a source of strength.
