Nice to meet you. I’m Yuko S. I teach yoga, meditation, and Laughter Yoga Music. I offer Laughter Yoga Music because ensuring children’s psychological safety fosters the development of their brains and minds and helps them cultivate their talents. I love music, too. Back in my student days, I was such a big fan of the band LÄ-PPISCH that I even joined their fan club. I was a total live-music girl, spending most of my part-time earnings on indie concert tickets, lol. I listen to music across genres, and since I’ve lived in India, I especially listen to a lot of Indian music.

How am I supposed to feel watching this…? No, I don’t mean that in a bad way.

It’s a commercial based on Dazai Osamu’s famous short story “Run, Melos!” The idea is that Melos, who is sprinting across the wilderness for the sake of his friend who has taken his place, meets Ueda Hajime—the protagonist of the “1UP” series played by Eita.

It is an insurance commercial, but in any case, the direction is utterly captivating.

This is the 2013 Sumitomo Life commercial, Future Diagnosis: Constellation version.

While Masaki Aiba is looking at the night sky from a rooftop, a woman who introduces herself as being from “Sumisei” appears before him.

She explains that using a service called “Future Diagnosis” will reveal a rational structure for insurance, and then fires a laser beam from her forehead.

Prompted by her, Aiba fires a laser beam too, but his is wobbly… making for a heartwarming scene.

This is Sumitomo Life’s 2011 commercial, “My Future, Our Future.” It features Masaki Aiba from Arashi talking about the future.

At the beginning there’s a slow-motion running scene; his long limbs look lithe and healthily beautiful, like a gazelle.

The words “Rinki ōhen” (adaptability) written in chalk on a scoreboard—apparently in Aiba’s own handwriting—add a nice touch.

In the latest “Level Up on the Exam” installment, Hajime Ueda takes an English proficiency test and does his best, only to realize at the end that he forgot to write his name.

This time we meet three characters: the person who took the test, an insurance agent who knows about it, and—believe it or not—the person who was sitting next to him during the exam.

It’s another light, comical episode that will make you chuckle.
