[Funny Commercials] Hilarious! Memorable Ads

When you watch TV or go online, the commercials you see almost every day have diversified along with the times, and even short ads have increasingly become enjoyable as standalone works.

The ones that tend to get people talking are, of course, the funny commercials.

Whether it’s a spot featuring comedians that makes you burst out laughing, one that surprises you with unexpected casting, or one whose out-of-left-field ideas and direction draw you in, the variations are endless.

This is a commercial for Fujipan’s Snack Sand that starts with a boy begging his mother for an egg sandwich.

When the mother chooses Snack Sand’s egg sandwich, the boy says, “Not that one…” and looks disappointed.

The twist, which hints at the existence of similar, later-coming products, is a pretty darkly humorous touch that’s surprising and memorable.

By the way, it’s also funny how Nn-pa, the mascot character, flies into a rage after hearing the boy’s words, and Nana Mori desperately tries to stop him!

ORIX “Motivation MAX! ORIX! It begins” versionIchiro, Rina Kawaei

Rina Kawaei fires off a shocked quip at a catchphrase devised by Ichiro!? Orix’s new commercial: “Motivation MAX! ORIX! Begins”

This commercial humorously conveys ORIX’s drive through an exchange between Ichiro, who proposes a new ad tagline for the ORIX Group, and the employees.

Ichiro suggests “Yaruki MAX! ORIX!” (“Motivation MAX! ORIX!”), and it also shows Rina Kawaei’s reaction to it.

The boss’s desperate attempts to smooth things over and everyone’s comedic movements give the impression that ORIX feels approachable and close to everyday life.

Famichiki Age-Age Festival – 15 seconds

This is a promotional commercial announcing a limited-time campaign where you can get coupons and merchandise when you buy Famichiki.

It features Kotaro Yoshida and Rikako Yagi, who are familiar faces from FamilyMart commercials, but here they play gyaru-style characters saying “Age~.” The contrast with their usual personas creates a striking, highly impactful ad.

Keiji Muto and Riki Choshu argue over Pepsi and KFC chicken in a Japanese TV commercial | NJPW

This commercial features Riki Choshu and Keiji Muto enjoying Pepsi and KFC, with their expressions clearly conveying how delicious it is.

At first, they both look happy, but then each starts to feel dissatisfied when the other’s chicken or Pepsi seems bigger than their own.

In the end, they can’t hold back and point out the unfairness, engaging in a childlike back-and-forth that creates a comedic vibe.

The intensity of their eating and their words showcases their power as pro wrestlers, which highlights the fun even more.

SoftBank commercial Shirato Family Mystery Train: “Rei Kikukawa’s Interrogation” 30-second version

This is a SoftBank commercial that incorporates a parody of the Hazuki Loupe ads.

It’s one entry in the “Shirato Family Mystery Train” series, where Rei Kikukawa is questioned by a detective played by Masato Sakai.

In it, Kikukawa steps on a smartphone left on a chair and lets out a little “Eek!”, and she recreates elements from her Hazuki Loupe appearances, saying lines like “Lovely” and “I love it.” It’s a playful CM that shows the fun spirit of both SoftBank and Hazuki Loupe!

SoftBank commercial: “There’s something I want to tell you” version

This commercial features Sayaka from Lalande playing a convenience store clerk, dealing with customers who come to the register wearing earphones.

She asks, “Do you need a bag?” but the customer can’t hear her because of the earphones.

As she’s struggling, an elderly man appears and teaches her how to communicate feelings without words.

In the second half of the CM, Nishida arrives at Sayaka’s register as a customer with earphones on.

She tries using the technique she learned to ask whether he needs a bag, but Nishida misunderstands and responds, “I have a girlfriend.” The absurd twist is laugh-out-loud funny.

The commercial promotes the idea of removing earphones at the register.

Jumbo Lottery “Summer Anime” Now On Sale (30 seconds)

This is a commercial introducing the Summer Jumbo lottery, which offers a top prize of 700 million yen.

At the start of the ad, Satoshi Tsumabuki confidently says he got his 700-million-yen dream turned into an anime.

Mio Imada and Ryo Narita hear this and get excited too.

Then, just as everyone’s expectations are high, they watch the anime and… it turns out to be hilariously low quality, leaving all three of them disappointed.

Many viewers probably couldn’t help but laugh at that punchline.
