Funny Commercials [June 2025] (141–150)

Nippon Ham: Oden Ingredients for Meat Lovers — “Meat-and-Mochi Gyoza” Version / “Quail Egg Meatball” Version

In this commercial introducing oden ingredients made with meat, the story is presented in the style of an audition.

The two items featured this time are meat-mochi gyoza and quail meatballs.

It’s striking how they withstand tough questions and comments from the three judges—a mother, son, and daughter—and ultimately win their approval.

Although the portrayal is very passionate, the fact that it’s actually an audition for oden ingredients adds a touch of humor.

WAVE Contact Lenses “Breathe! WAVE EYES” VersionTatsuya Fukazawa, Ryota Miyadate, Hikaru Iwamoto

WAVE Contact Lenses [CM] “Breathe! WAVE EYES” Version 30 Seconds

This commercial uses a tense, drama-like setup packed with lively comedic quips to show that WAVE EYES contact lenses let plenty of oxygen reach your eyes.

In the enemy’s hideout, Snow Man’s Ryota Miyadate collapses and his teammates check his breathing—only to realize they’re actually watching his eyes, prompting Miyadate himself to blurt out a retort.

Even amid the barrage of punchy comebacks, Tatsuya Fukazawa and Hikaru Iwamoto stay coolheaded—a nice touch—and the way Miyadate’s words don’t seem to land adds to the humor.

Because contact lenses are an everyday essential, the ad also conveys, with a lighthearted tone, the desire for people to choose something they can use with confidence.

Sky PerfecTV! Basic Plan Campaign “Gratitude” VersionKenichi Endo

Kenichi Endo offers a deep bow! A powerful display of “sincere gratitude” in Sky PerfecTV!’s new commercial

It opens with a scene of a meeting where they’re discussing what they can do for the people who go out of their way to subscribe to SKY PerfecTV! even in an era when TV alone offers plenty of content.

When a young employee suggests, “Maybe… gratitude?”, it looks like Kenichi Endo dismisses the idea outright—only for the next scene to show Endo bowing deeply while saying, “Thank you very much!” The commercial ends by introducing a campaign offering two months of free viewing fees for new subscribers.

Suntory Pepsi BIG Nama “Both are huge!” versionRiki Choshu, Keiji Mutoh

Keiji Muto and Riki Choshu argue over Pepsi and KFC chicken in a Japanese TV commercial | NJPW

This commercial features Riki Choshu and Keiji Muto enjoying Pepsi and KFC, with their expressions clearly conveying how delicious it is.

At first, they both look happy, but then each starts to feel dissatisfied when the other’s chicken or Pepsi seems bigger than their own.

In the end, they can’t hold back and point out the unfairness, engaging in a childlike back-and-forth that creates a comedic vibe.

The intensity of their eating and their words showcases their power as pro wrestlers, which highlights the fun even more.

ORIX “Motivation MAX! ORIX! It begins” versionIchiro, Rina Kawaei

Rina Kawaei fires off a shocked quip at a catchphrase devised by Ichiro!? Orix’s new commercial: “Motivation MAX! ORIX! Begins”

This commercial humorously conveys ORIX’s drive through an exchange between Ichiro, who proposes a new ad tagline for the ORIX Group, and the employees.

Ichiro suggests “Yaruki MAX! ORIX!” (“Motivation MAX! ORIX!”), and it also shows Rina Kawaei’s reaction to it.

The boss’s desperate attempts to smooth things over and everyone’s comedic movements give the impression that ORIX feels approachable and close to everyday life.

au Value Link Plan “au Global Roaming Unlimited” / “au 5G Fast Lane” / “au Starlink Direct” / “Subscription Plus Points” / “Subscription Plus Points”Takao Osawa

This commercial delivers, with the force of a story’s opening, what features you can use when you join the au Value Link Plan.

As the Celestial Emperor, Takao Osawa presents the plan’s perks as a variety of jeweled treasures, clearly showcasing its functions.

You can feel how comprehensive the plan is—staying connected anywhere and enjoying savings through coupons.

The confident smile with which it’s presented also underscores the strong belief behind the plan.

Y!mobile “Trailer for Imaginary Masterpieces”

Film Est Collaboration CM “Trailer for a Fictional Masterpiece”

Here’s a commercial with a Showa-era film vibe that evokes old Hong Kong movies.

It’s funny how even the cell phone is an old model to match the vintage film look, but the content also feels like a modern satire, with a clever touch.

The key parts are presented in a way that people in the Japanese-speaking world can grasp the feel, which is also amusing.
