hibanaAkira Miku
This one, themed around being a devoted idol fan, is Horoyoi’s “There’s a color I love.” commercial.
It features a woman whose days have become richer since she started following an idol, and showcases colorful cans of Horoyoi inspired by idol member colors.
For the background music, the original song “hibana,” written and composed by ESME MORI and sung by Akira Miku, is used.
The track is memorable for its cute vocals and a refreshing, breezy accompaniment.
LollipopChordettes

This song was used in the 2014 commercial for “Sumiwataru Umeshu,” featuring Toma Ikuta and Mariya Nishiuchi.
The song originally came out in 1958, first released by a different singer.
That same year, The Chordettes covered it and it became a big hit.
Girls Just Want To Have FunCyndi Lauper

This song was used in a 2012 commercial for “Calory” featuring Nozomi Sasaki and YOU.
It was Cyndi Lauper’s first major debut single.
Cyndi Lauper is a great Japanophile and provided support during the Great Hanshin Earthquake and the Great East Japan Earthquake.
Crazy about youEXILE

This song was used in a 2016 commercial for “The Malts” featuring the members of EXILE TRIBE.
The cute, un-EXILE-like title “Ki・mi・ni・mu・chu” and its lyrics became a hot topic.
The commercial also left an impression with their cheerful, fun scenes of drinking.
I Want You BackLake Street Dive
This is a series of commercials where Mana Ashida learns about sustainable water usage from a boombox.
It’s fascinating to think that a Showa-era boombox can teach you all kinds of things.
As a corporate stance, I think it’s good to propose a lifestyle that doesn’t just consume water.
The BGM is a laid-back, unplugged cover of “I Want You Back,” the song made a hit by the Jackson 5, performed by Lake Street Dive.
Sit on My FaceMonty Python

This song was used in a 2014 commercial for “Oishii ZERO” featuring Noritake Kinashi and Oyakata Furiwake.
Monty Python, who perform this song, aren’t singers but a six-member group of British comedians—and they’re super brainy to boot.
That’s exactly why it’s so funny when they do it.
In Japan, they’re kind of like The Drifters, maybe?

In The Mood ×W/X/YTani Yuuki
Tani Yuuki’s 2021 release “W/X/Y,” which became hugely popular especially on TikTok, has been combined with the swing jazz classic “In The Mood,” famously performed by the Glenn Miller Orchestra, to create a special number featured in Suntory The Premium Malt’s commercial “A Good Day, The Premium Malt’s: Cherished Junior Colleague,” starring Yo Oizumi.
Unlike the mellow original version of “W/X/Y,” the melody has been transformed into a bright, pop-inflected arrangement with horn textures, adding a new depth to the lyrics about wanting to stay with someone special forever.
