Nostalgic commercials from the 2000s. Looking back at memorable ads (111–120)

Toyota Corolla Fielder

Ken Hirai / 平井堅 [Toyota Corolla Fielder CM – 1]

In this commercial for the Corolla Fielder, which features a boy co-starring with Ken Hirai, the boy hums Hirai’s song “Omoi ga Kasanaru Sono Mae ni,” and then Hirai appears.

After they get in a car together and change locations, Hirai continues singing the song—an impressively dramatic development.

Even now, it’s a wonderful commercial that moves the heart.

Aflac

[AFLAC] Aflac Commercial Compilation: Akiko Yada Edition [All 12 Versions]

From 2002 for several years, Akiko Yada appeared in Aflac Life Insurance commercials.

There were spots featuring a stylish image of a beautiful woman, but the most iconic ones were definitely her comedic exchanges with the Aflac Duck and the “Let’s think it over” series, right? In that series, Yada sang to emphasize the importance of money; it became a popular, serialized set of ads with many variations.

Even now, when you hear it, you kind of remember it and find yourself singing along (lol).

Glico Pocky-like Pretz (Glico Pretz)

Aya Matsuura Glico Pocky Sticks Commercial: Dosukoi Version

It’s a highly impactful commercial in which Aya Matsuura, together with two sumo wrestlers, keeps delivering powerful thrusts.

The way it single-mindedly pushes through on the sole premise that “Pritz” and “tsuppari” sound similar is striking.

It’s not just repetition either—the accent on “dosukoi” and the addition of music midway are changes that help draw viewers in.

The content is so strong that it might actually take a moment after the commercial ends to remember which product was being advertised.

Coca-Cola

Coca-Cola TV commercial: In the moments we connect. Coca-Cola “Spring Baton” version ♪ BENNIE K

The Coca-Cola commercial “Spring Baton,” featuring Haruka Kinami, Seiji Fukushi, and others.

This ad was part of a seasonal series that aired around 2005.

It’s a very memorable spot that captures the feeling of spring, youth, and people giving their all.

And the CM song, BENNIE K’s “Dreamland,” really sticks in your head.

It’s so evocative that hearing it makes you want to drink Coca-Cola.

With its fresh vibe and sense of crisp refreshment, it’s the perfect commercial for Coca-Cola.

Takemoto Piano

Takemoto Piano commercial

The Takemoto Piano commercial, famous for the phrase “Sell me your piano,” features Ichirō Zaitsu alongside four dancers.

Because it has aired for over 20 years, it’s widely known across generations, from adults to children.

There are two versions—an upbeat, energetic song and a more relaxed one—and in each, the dancers perform to the music while Zaitsu also moves to the rhythm.

Both the music and Zaitsu’s distinctive line delivery make a strong impression on viewers.

Promise

Waka Inoue’s TV commercial for the consumer finance company Promise

When it comes to famous commercials in the financial industry, the best-known is Aiful’s “Okami-san” series featuring Mao Daichi and Hiroki Konno.

Speaking of nostalgic ads, though, wasn’t Waka Inoue the face of Promise for three years starting in 2003? Waka Inoue’s smile was popular among men, and many people probably found themselves choosing Promise because of it.

For companies that offer these kinds of services, the image conveyed through commercials carries a lot of weight, so deciding whom to cast is a crucial point.

Takanoyuri Beauty ClinicGackt, Tomoka Kurotani

[Nostalgic Commercial] Takano Yuri Beauty Clinic / Gackt, Tomoka Kurotani

The Takano Yuri Beauty Clinic commercial “My Vanilla,” which became a hot topic for featuring Tomoka Kurotani swimming nude in a pool and GACKT gently lifting her up, was both sensual and breathtakingly beautiful—truly striking.

Their utterly unembellished presence didn’t feel lewd at all; instead, I found myself simply captivated by the beauty of their physiques.

It blended perfectly with GACKT’s “Vanilla,” which served as the CM song, its seductive lyrics and Latin-tinged vibe matching the mood flawlessly.

It’s the kind of commercial you can watch over and over again.
