Izumi YouMe Town 2023 Eel Reservations

2023 Unagi Reservation

Yume Town is a supermarket chain operating in the Kyushu and Chugoku–Shikoku regions.

This is their commercial for the Day of the Ox in midsummer.

The delicious-looking eel really whets your appetite as you watch.

The summery background music and the sizzling sound of the eel are also appealing.

Idex Group: “Idex Denki” Edition

[Idex Electricity] 15-Second Ad Discount Campaign ver.1

Idex Denki is an electricity provider available in the Kyushu Electric Power service area.

With price hikes and rising costs making electricity bills a growing concern, it’s natural to be interested in money-saving plans and promotions.

Earning points from major credit cards every month is certainly appealing.

Oumi Housing

Oumi Housing TV Commercial

Oumi Housing is a housing-related company in Shiga Prefecture.

This commercial really sticks in your ear.

Appearing in it are actor Toshio Kurosawa and comedian Punch Mitsuo.

Punch is dressed like a construction worker while Kurosawa seems to be directing, and they dance together cheerfully—a CM that sucks you in precisely because it makes no sense.

That very absurdity is addictive and keeps you coming back.

Beloved in the Kansai region for many years, this single commercial significantly boosted Oumi Housing’s name recognition.

Sangaria

[Sangaria] Sangaria Drinks – Complete Compilation of Historical Commercials [1975–2017]

Sangaria is an Osaka-based company that has been selling a variety of soft drinks—such as canned coffee and carbonated beverages—since the 1970s.

Lately, it’s best known as the company behind “Mikkuchu Juuchu,” a mixed juice that could be called the soul drink of Kansai.

Their commercials feature comedians and TV personalities, and the catchy jingle “Ichi, ni, Sangaria” sung rhythmically leaves a strong impression.

With a nostalgic, local-commercial vibe, Sangaria’s ads are often introduced as quintessential examples of regional commercials.

Super Tamade

Super Tamade commercial 2016

The commercial for Super Tamade, Osaka’s famed ultra-cheap store known to those in the know, perfectly captures that Kansai-local vibe.

It’s basically a neighborhood supermarket that people outside the Kansai area wouldn’t normally know about, but thanks to the ad featuring a man in eye-popping, bright yellow suit jacket and pants who relentlessly repeats the store’s name, its recognition has skyrocketed.

Just by watching the footage you can pick up the key info—rock-bottom prices, open 24 hours—and above all, the sheer boldness and cheerful energy that drill the store’s name into your memory are truly impressive!

[Famous] Compilation of Local TV Commercials Nationwide (111–120)

Thelema

Cerema is a company based in Kyoto that handles weddings and funerals.

Its commercials are known for a distinctive jingle, and many people from the Kansai region can’t help but sing along when it comes on.

The clear vocals and flowing melody are beautiful, while the largely meaningless lyrics make it oddly addictive.

Sauce for Sorachi-style Genghis Khan (grilled mutton)

Sorachi TV Commercial 2016: New Do-Re-Mi-Fa-Sorachi Genghis Khan Version

The sauce plays a key role in making Hokkaido’s famous Jingisukan even more delicious, doesn’t it? This piece is a commercial for Sorachi, a Hokkaido-based seasoning manufacturer that makes that very sauce.

Tomomi, a singer from Sunagawa City in Hokkaido, performs the jingle and also appears in the ad.

The Jingisukan shown right at the beginning looks so tasty—it really grabs your attention.

The melody set to do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti-do is catchy and sticks in your head.

If you visit Hokkaido, be sure to look for their products!
