Nostalgic commercials from the 2000s: Looking back at memorable ads (91–100)
Nissin Foods Demae Iccho

When it comes to classic soy sauce–flavored instant ramen with an irresistible sesame chili oil aroma, Demae Iccho is the standard-bearer.
Its mascot, the Demae Boy, is a nostalgic icon for generations.
Although he has undergone minor updates over the years, he remains as familiar as ever.
Starting in 1993, an animated commercial series featuring the Demae Boy and his family—with a distinctly Showa-era vibe—became a hot topic, making the character feel even more relatable to many.
It’s said that the Demae Family’s animated commercials were also aired for a long time in Hong Kong.
Takanoyuri Beauty ClinicGackt, Tomoka Kurotani

The Takano Yuri Beauty Clinic commercial “My Vanilla,” which became a hot topic for featuring Tomoka Kurotani swimming nude in a pool and GACKT gently lifting her up, was both sensual and breathtakingly beautiful—truly striking.
Their utterly unembellished presence didn’t feel lewd at all; instead, I found myself simply captivated by the beauty of their physiques.
It blended perfectly with GACKT’s “Vanilla,” which served as the CM song, its seductive lyrics and Latin-tinged vibe matching the mood flawlessly.
It’s the kind of commercial you can watch over and over again.
American Family Life Insurance Company ‘EVER’ ‘Baby and Nursery Teacher Edition’Akiko Yada

When you think of American Family Life Insurance commercials, it’s that famous song with lyrics like “Money is important, so let’s think carefully about money,” right? Even when the commercials change, the song stays the same, so I’m sure many of you could sing a line or two.
In these ads, Akiko Yada appears playing the organ—and she looks adorable as a nurse too—so I bet plenty of men fell head over heels for her.
Lately, Yada has also been very active on the morning variety show “Love it!” where she even handles the show’s signature electric-shock chair without a hitch.
It’s a truly nostalgic commercial that makes you want to watch the cute Yada two or three times over.
Shiseido PNSae Isshiki

This is a Shiseido PN commercial that aired around 2000, featuring Sae Isshiki.
For the background music, they used “NEO UNIVERSE” by the rock band L’Arc~en~Ciel, who were already enormously popular at the time.
The song, released in 2000 as their 19th single, is characterized by its programmed electronic sound and a bright, catchy melody line that sticks in your head after just one listen.
The chorus section used in the commercial is particularly memorable, and I imagine there are quite a few people who recognize at least that part.
Zespri Gold Kiwi

In the Zespri commercial that aired in 2006, the featured performers were Kenji Sakaguchi and Yuri Ebihara.
The BGM was Ayumi Hamasaki’s “BLUE BIRD,” making it a commercial that truly encapsulated the 2000s.
It’s a CM packed with the atmosphere of that time, and watching it now brings back a strong sense of nostalgia.
