Nostalgic commercials from the 2000s: Looking back at memorable ads (91–100)
KINCHO Tansu ni Gon Gon

Kinchō is known for its highly impactful commercials, and among them, the “Tansu ni Gon” series really stands out for its quirky style—many of you probably remember it, right? Actress Yasuko Sawaguchi threw herself into an impressively wide range of eccentric roles, and she nailed them all (lol).
The Kansai dialect suited her perfectly, and every spot had that little moment that made you chuckle.
They were all the kind of commercials that made you think, “She really is a great actress.” It’s a series packed with nostalgia—one after another you’ll go, “I remember this one! Oh, this one too!”
Asahi Soft Drinks Mitsuya Cider

Many people probably remember the final melody that sings the product name—it’s so nostalgic! It’s the perfect-for-summer commercial for Asahi Soft Drinks’ Mitsuya Cider.
The ad features Riko Narumi, who was still a junior high school student at the time.
The CM song is GOING UNDER GROUND’s “STAND BY ME.” As if to encourage Riko Narumi, who’s hanging upside down on the horizontal bar while wrestling with something on her mind, her friend brings her a Mitsuya Cider.
The refreshing, likable visuals and the exhilarating track that perfectly matches the scene evoke a nostalgic feeling that brings back memories of one’s own youth.
Aflac

From 2002 for several years, Akiko Yada appeared in Aflac Life Insurance commercials.
There were spots featuring a stylish image of a beautiful woman, but the most iconic ones were definitely her comedic exchanges with the Aflac Duck and the “Let’s think it over” series, right? In that series, Yada sang to emphasize the importance of money; it became a popular, serialized set of ads with many variations.
Even now, when you hear it, you kind of remember it and find yourself singing along (lol).
Suntory Burn-Type Amino Formula

Despite the light, catchy vocals of its jingle, Suntory’s amino acid drink “Nenshō-kei Amino-shiki” became a hot topic for its series of commercials featuring superhuman feats that make you want to blurt out, “There’s no way anyone could do that!” From 2003 to 2005, the ads were widely talked about as fun, family-friendly TV spots.
Memorable scenes included a high school girl repeatedly spinning in midair after kicking off the ground, a salaryman climbing a pole by lifting himself with only arm strength while his feet float, and a child twirling around atop a mother lying on her back with her legs raised.
SoftBank Unexpected GUY Series

This is the 2006 commercial for Vodafone—the predecessor to SoftBank—for the AQUOS cellphone, titled “Unexpected Moves: Sandbox.” Just hearing the name “Vodafone” already feels nostalgic, but it turns out Dante, whose popularity shot up as the “Yosou GUY,” was appearing even back in the Vodafone days! He continued to appear after the switch to SoftBank as the older brother in the Shirato family.
Many of you probably remember the interactions with the kids, that hard-to-describe background music, and the overall vibe.
