“Don’t wanna cry” is Namie Amuro’s fifth single, released in March 1996.

It was featured in a commercial for DyDo Drinco’s “mistio” and became a major hit.

Namie Amuro herself appears in the commercial.

It is also one of the emblematic songs produced by Tetsuya Komuro that were popular in the 1990s.

ChristmasJUDY AND MARY

It was released in 1994 as JUDY AND MARY’s fifth single.

As the B-side to the single “Cheese ‘PIZZA’,” it was the band’s first Christmas song and has a very cute finish.

It was used for Tokai Bank’s Christmas campaign.

This is the song used in the Shiseido Tissera Angel Drop commercial that aired in the late 1990s.

Members of SPEED also appeared in the ad, so many of you may remember it vividly.

Released in 1997, this track is one of their signature songs and was included on the following year’s album, RISE.

Set against a winter backdrop, the lyrics—vowing eternal love while feeling anxious that it might someday end—resonated deeply and moved many listeners.

This commercial shows two women stopping by McDonald’s after work to enjoy limited-time smoothies and frappés.

The way they sing happily is quite striking, isn’t it? The song playing in the ad is one of PUFFY’s signature tracks, “Kore ga Watashi no Ikiru Michi” (“That’s the Way I Live”).

The vocal range isn’t very demanding, and above all, the gentle melody flowing at a relaxed tempo makes it easy for just about anyone to sing.

It’s a song loved across generations, so it’s also a great pick to liven up karaoke sessions with a wide range of age groups.

TemptationGLAY

“Temptation” is GLAY’s 13th single, released in April 1998.

Chosen as the theme song for TDK’s MiniDisc commercials, and coinciding with the band’s peak popularity, it became a huge hit, ranking as the best-selling single of 1998.

At the time, many young people listened to music on MDs, so it was a song frequently heard in commercials.
