Hokkaido Marukawa Co., Ltd. “Snow Rabbit Silken Tofu / Firm Tofu 3-Layer” Version
This commercial, featuring children with red noses and big ears cheerfully dancing, is for Hokkaido Marukawa’s Yuki Usagi Tofu.
The original song, which highlights its beautiful appearance and soft texture, is likely familiar to people in Hokkaido.
Snow Brand Megmilk Katsugen: Drink to win the match! “For you, too” version
This is a commercial for Soft Katsugen, a lactic acid bacteria drink that’s especially famous among Hokkaido’s local beverages.
Playing on the product name “Katsugen,” it rhythmically promotes it as a good-luck charm, set to the classic 3-3-7 cheer beat.
It’s a CM that sticks with you after just one viewing.
Tonkatsu KYK
In this commercial, after three women each say a single syllable—“K,” “Y,” “K”—the trio together lets out a sultry “Mmm!” It’s the signature phrase of the Tonkatsu KYK ads, a jingle every Kansai resident has likely seen and probably repeated at least once.
While Tonkatsu KYK commercials seem to date back to the late 1960s, the format featuring three women saying the phrase began with the “Three Daughters” edition in 1980.
In the latest version, the “Kurobuta Tonkatsu” edition airing since April 2022, the trio represents the fourth generation of “Three Daughters.”
Hirakata Park
These days, V6’s Junichi Okada appears as “Hirapa Brother” and “Super Director,” making Hirakata Park and its commercials famous nationwide.
Lately, whenever a new Hirapa Brother commercial is announced, it becomes a hot topic and makes the online news.
Hirakata Park has long run funny, Kansai-style commercials that locals tend to love, but many people probably still have a strong image of its chrysanthemum doll displays.
Around the time Black Mayonnaise’s Kosugi became the Hirapa Brother, the commercials’ humor started gaining attention among younger people too.
Asahi Camera
If just hearing “Asahi Do Camera” immediately brings a melody to mind, you’re probably from the Aichi area, right? That’s how catchy the jingle is in the commercials for Asahi Do Camera Co., Ltd.
There are lots of unique versions, and the commercials have completely different vibes depending on the era! Personally, I can’t get enough of the version aired during special sales, where a squid sings the lyrics: “Iikana, iikana, ikanai kan, ikanai kana ikan!” (a punny chant roughly meaning “Should I go, should I go? I gotta go, I really gotta go!”) lol.

Yume Town is a supermarket chain operating in the Kyushu and Chugoku–Shikoku regions.
This is their commercial for the Day of the Ox in midsummer.
The delicious-looking eel really whets your appetite as you watch.
